Successful ‘Aspire Day’ leaves lasting impact on pupils!

At Tilstock we want to nurture aspirations and feel it is really important that our children are inspired for their futures. As such on Wednesday, we held a very special careers day for pupils across our school, providing an opportunity for the children to be inspired and to start to think about what they might like to do when they are all grown up – an Aspire Day!  It was an incredible event that left a lasting impact on our pupils – thanks to the support we received from various local organisations, businesses and members of the community.

Jane Smellie Opticians Ltd kicked the day off to a brilliant start with a fabulous talk, sharing valuable insights into the role of opticians and how to pursue a career in this field. Next, we had Marc Hares from Barbers Estate Agents, who discussed what Estate Agents do and his own career journey. Marc even set the children a challenge to have a go at producing their own brochures/posters to sell a house! Super chefs from Docket No.33, Stuart and Fran gave up their time to discuss their industry experiences and passion for cooking. We were also joined by some of the brilliant team from Hill Valley Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, who put our pupils through their paces with a number of fun activities to experience personal training. Finally, to top off the day we also received a special visit from an Royal Air Force helicopter! This was a real memory making moment and we have definitely got some aspiring pilots after being part of such an amazing experience!

Huge, huge thanks to all the local organisations and members of the community who came to our Aspire Day. We are so pleased and grateful that you gave up your time to come and talk with us. You pitched your presentations and activities perfectly and we are sure you have given our children aspirations for the future!
